declassified documents show that Elon Musk (Elon Musk) wants Twitter to include the keyword "Trump" when searching internal communications and documents, so as to Get a better understanding of the company's fake account problem.

Musk's attorney, Silpa Maruri, wrote in a July 29 email: "Trump is related to the reasons we explain, specifically, the name is often associated with spam, Fake accounts and bots are linked." This is one of a slew of documents made public on Thursday to advance the "Twitter v. Musk" case.

Musk decided to walk away from the $44 billion acquisition because he felt Twitter wasn't being forthright enough about fake accounts. Twitter, on the other hand, hopes to force Musk to complete the deal through legal means.

Former US President Donald Trump used to be one of Twitter's most followed users, but he was blocked from the platform following the January 6, 2021 shock to Congress. Twitter and other platforms are widely used by bots to spread disinformation, including about Trump and his loss to incumbent Joe Biden in the 2020 U.S. presidential election.

Responding to the search term dispute, Twitter lawyer Bradley Wilson said the company did not see a need to search for "Trump." The former U.S. president's name touches on "many unrelated topics" and yields a plethora of search results.

Lawyers for both sides also clashed over search terms such as "Bangalore" and "New Delhi," according to emails. Musk's lawyers said they wanted to add those keywords because they "discovered that Twitter recently filed a lawsuit against the Bengaluru government to lift its order to block certain user accounts."

Musk’s lawyers also argued that Twitter violated the merger agreement by failing to disclose the India investigation.

"Twitter's indictment to dismiss the order is a clear indication that an investigation was underway during negotiations and prior to the execution of the merger agreement," the email said.

Twitter said it found 250,000 documents from personal emails and records searched after an initial search of those terms and other keywords Musk asked for. Twitter believes the search should be narrowed down.
