in the dispute over the acquisition of Twitter (Twitter), Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in court documents that Twitter had asked for a A whistleblower destroys evidence to cover up his mistakes.

Peiter Zatko, Twitter's former security chief, was ordered by company management to burn 10 handwritten notes and delete 100 computer files in order to get $7.8 million in severance pay . Zatko, who had been Twitter's security chief for about a year, included notes from his meetings with colleagues at the company.

Zatko became a breach of Musk's attack on Twitter, which Musk insisted was misleading himself and covering up the company's operational problems. Musk had been talking about pulling out of the deal, but last week he abruptly changed his tune and agreed to buy Twitter at a previously agreed price of $54.20 per share.

The court tried to force Musk to complete the deal, but Musk’s attorney said in the document: “Twitter tried to buy Zatko into silence, but this effort failed. But Twitter’s second purpose was achieved. , it wants to ensure that Mr Zatko's hard evidence is gone forever."

Delaware Judge Kathaleen St. J. McCormick put the case on hold last week and gave the parties an Oct. 28 deadline to complete the deal. Musk's lawyers asked the judge to sanction Twitter's lawyers for ordering the destruction of materials that could be evidence.

Zatko testified before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee last week that Twitter had lax computer security that threatened national security.

Twitter fired Zatko in January, citing poor performance, and accused Zatko of errors in talking about Twitter's privacy and data security measures, with many inconsistencies, inaccuracies, and lack of important context.
