Sandberg has officially stepped down as Meta COO
According to the documents submitted by meta to the securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Sheryl Sandberg, the company's chief operating officer (COO), officially stepped down on August 1.
Sandberg announced on June 1 this year that after 14 years in office, she would resign as coo, but continue to serve as a director of the company. After his resignation, Javier olivan, the chief growth officer of meta, will take over the post of meta coo.
Sandberg only said at that time that he would leave this autumn, without giving a specific date. However, the document submitted by meta to the SEC today shows that this transition has been completed, and Sandberg has stepped down as coo on August 1. Next, Sandberg will remain as an ordinary employee of meta until September 30, and will only serve as a director of meta after that.
For meta, Sandberg's resignation comes at a difficult time for the company. Meta has just released its first ever quarterly revenue decline, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is suing meta to prevent it from acquiring VR fitness studio within. Most importantly, meta still seems unable to get rid of the "Cambridge analysis scandal" four years ago. In September this year, meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Sandberg both wanted to testify here.
Of course, Sandberg's resignation is also part of meta's broader restructuring plan. On November 1 this year, David wehne, the chief financial officer (CFO) of meta, will be transferred to the Chief Strategic Officer (CSO), and Susan Li, the current Vice President of finance, will take over as CFO. Analysts said that meta's move was aimed at enhancing investor confidence.
For meta, Sandberg's resignation is also a milestone. Sandberg played a crucial role in the growth of meta. CEO Zuckerberg said in June that Sandberg's position is irreplaceable.
