Users lose access to accounts for 8 hours: Instagram says it has fixed software bug

There were more than 7,500 user reports on outage tracking website Downdetector at 10:09 ET, and around 6:00 pm ET, the number of user reports dropped to nearly 500.
Downdetector collates status reports from multiple sources, including bugs submitted by users on its platform. This outage may affect more users. Shares in Meta closed down 6.1% against the backdrop of a broader stock market decline.
