the FTC is investigating Amazon Prime service, Amazon founder Bezos and some executives are also being investigated, Amazon complained that the FTC's investigation of executives was too cumbersome to meet the requirements. . Amazon also said the purpose of the FTC was to harass company executives and affect company operations.

The FTC has been investigating Amazon Prime's registration and deregistration mechanisms since March 2021, and subsequently issued a civil subpoena. Amazon founder Bezos and current CEO Andy Jassy received a subpoena in June last year, and Amazon hopes to cancel the subpoena or extend the deadline for a response. Amazon believes the FTC could obtain the same information, or more, from other witnesses or documents, so there is no legitimate reason to ask the executives to testify.

In July 2021, Jassie took over the CEO stick from Bezos, with Bezos serving as executive chairman.

The FTC has expanded its investigation to include at least five other subscription services, including Audible, Amazon Music, Kindle Unlimited, Subscribe & Save, and a third-party program not offered by Amazon. How many consumers actually participate in the program without consent and without providing information? The FTC asked Amazon to provide detailed numbers. In June, the FTC sent subpoenas to about 20 current and former Amazon employees seeking testimony.
