British scientists invent 'artificial leaves' that float on water and generate clean fuel
Have you heard of using "leaves" to produce fuel? According to the British "Times" report on the 21st, scientists from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom have invented an "artificial leaf" that will generate clean fuel when floating on the water, and has considerable environmental protection application prospects.
This ultra-thin, flexible "artificial leaf" has a different principle from traditional solar power generation. It uses solar energy technology to simulate the photosynthesis of plants. The surface of the floating "leaf" is coated with semiconductor powder, which converts carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide by absorbing light energy. Water is converted into liquid fuel that can be stored. Professor Erwin Leissner, from the research and development team, said many existing renewable energy technologies require large amounts of land, and moving energy production to the surface would eliminate the need for land. In addition, the portability of the device helps maintain energy security. At present, this new technology has not been put into commercial application, and scientists are still optimizing the way of collecting fuel from "leaves". If it is really used on a large scale in the future, it can effectively reduce the global shipping industry's dependence on fossil fuels.
