Apple is falling behind again? Intel Wi-Fi 7 is here: Twice as fast

According to etnews, Intel plans to add Wi Fi 7 technology to its new devices launched in 2024. As the successor of Wi Fi 6e, Wi Fi 7 will bring twice the data throughput to hardware devices and support data processing speeds up to 36gbps.

Although Wi Fi 6 has been very popular on many smartphones, PCs and tablets, there are still many routers that have not developed this generation of wireless network technology. In this case, Wi Fi 7 is coming soon. According to the latest report, Intel is accelerating the research and development process of Wi Fi 7 technology. It is expected to adopt it in advance on the new computer released next year, and then gradually expand it to other devices. The whole process will take less than two years. Although wireless network technology has developed quite rapidly in recent years, many mobile terminals have only made "superficial efforts", such as apple, which supports Wi Fi 6. Even the latest iPhone 13 is only equipped with 2x2 MIMO technology and does not support 160MHz, which simply cannot reach the standard speed of a normal Wi Fi 6 router.

However, in Intel's outlook, the application scope of Wi Fi 7 will be expanded to virtual reality, augmented reality and game fields, which still have no quite perfect experience at the civil level. For ordinary consumers, the situation of Wi Fi 7 is a bit like when 5g was born at the beginning, and its use is not clear. It is worth noting that the biggest feature of Wi Fi 7 is that in addition to supporting 2.4GHz and 5GHz, it has added the support of 6GHz band and can work in three bands at the same time. However, at present, only the United States and South Korea have confirmed to open this band. For Chinese users, this band will wait for the next generation of mobile network communication technology, that is, 6G network to have the opportunity to support.

In fact, the updating and iteration of technology is very normal, but too fast technology upgrading is easy to make equipment manufacturers unable to follow up in time, and the cost of technology research and development is shared by consumers too early. In this way, even if there is a new technology, it is difficult to popularize it. It has to be said that some large manufacturers have also become "stumbling blocks" in technology promotion. For example, apple didn't hear about using Qualcomm's latest X65 modem to support 10Gbps 10 Gigabit network speed until the iPhone 14 series. Such large manufacturers are not active, and no wonder technology promotion is difficult.
