  Walmart is advancing into the Metaverse, and its online game platform Roblox has launched two sets of experiences.

  Walmart's first foray into VR brings a toy-dropping airship, a music festival featuring popular artists, some games and virtual goods, as well as "Walmart Land" and "Universe of Play" experiences.

  It's clear that Walmart is looking for new ways to reach shoppers after the pandemic has changed consumer shopping habits and how consumers interact with social media, apps, gaming sites, which is one of the reasons Walmart is adjusting its strategy .

  Walmart has already carried out direct delivery on TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube. Not only that, but Walmart has partnered with Meredith, Parents, Better Homes & Gardens to create vegan recipes, and it has launched AR tools on Pinterest to help shoppers choose furniture and decorations.

  Walmart's chief marketing officer, William White, said that while Walmart is considering entering the metaverse and will continue to do so in the future, Roblox is just an experimental field. He explained that the newly designed Metaverse experience has the next generation of shoppers in mind, especially Generation Z, which is about 25 years old or younger. Walmart hopes to learn something new from the collaboration. White admits that Walmart doesn't make money in the Metaverse right now, but it will in the future.

  At the beginning of the year, Walmart applied for Metaverse-related trademarks, some of which implied that Walmart wanted to make and sell virtual goods, provide users with virtual currency, and also involved NFTs.

  Roblox's current market value is about $21.2 billion, but shares have fallen 60% this year. As the number of Roblox users grows, more and more retailers and brands are entering.
