 this week the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) released the car registration data for Q2 2022. CNCDA confirmed that the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 were the two best-selling vehicles in California in the first half of 2022.

In the first half of the year, the Tesla Model Y was the best-selling car in California with 42,320 registrations. The Tesla Model 3 came in second with 38,993 sales. Tesla (TSLA.O)'s strong performance in California has pushed electric vehicle market share to a new high. Electric vehicle sales now account for 15 percent of the entire California auto market, according to the latest CNCDA report. Electric vehicles account for about 7% of the entire U.S. market.
