Tesla Autopilot is suspected of false propaganda, or its sales license will be revoked
according to Reuters, the California Department of Motor Vehicles accused Tesla of falsely promoting Autopilot and fully self-driving features, saying it misled customers with ads that exaggerated advanced driver assistance systems.
In a complaint filed with the California Office of Administrative Hearings, the California Department of Motor Vehicles said Tesla said in marketing copy on its website that its driver-assistance technology could "without the need for a person in the driver's seat to take action" "Drive. The Autopilot page advertises that all you need to do is get in the car and tell your car where to go. The system is designed for short and long trips without the need for any action from the person in the driver's seat.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles said the ads were misleading despite Tesla's statement that the procedures "require active driver oversight."
Tesla's license to manufacture and sell cars in California could be suspended or revoked if the DMV's charges against the California Office of Administrative Hearings are successful.
It is worth noting that since Tesla Musk announced the start of a 10% global layoff plan, many autopilot-related departments have been laid off. At the end of June, Tesla abolished the San Mateo Autopilot office in the United States. On July 13, Tesla laid off 229 employees in San Mateo, California. The documents show that Tesla will permanently close the branch in the area. The employees are also primarily responsible for developing the Autopilot driver assistance system, the report said.
