NASA discovers two 'super-Earths'
NASA's "TESS" mission announced the discovery of two exoplanets, about 100 light-years away from Earth, one of which may be suitable for life survives. The two exoplanets are classified as "super-Earths," meaning they are more massive than Earth but smaller than ice giants. They orbit a "less active" red dwarf star.
The first planet, LP 890-9b, is 1.3 times the size of Earth and orbits its star every 2.7 days. Another planet, LP 890-9c, is 1.4 times the size of Earth and orbits the star in about 3.9 days, during which it is in the star's habitable zone. The researchers said that LP 890-9c is very close to the star, and the radiation heat received is very low. If there is sufficient atmosphere, liquid water may exist on the surface of the planet.
