Microsoft, Google, Meta collectively bleak! U.S. tech giant's latest quarterly earnings report "earthquake"
The latest quarterly financial reports of American technology giants were collectively dismal. The financial reports released by Microsoft, Google and Meta show that the performance of these three technology giants continued to deteriorate compared to the second quarter.
On the 26th, Meta announced that its operating income in the third quarter fell 4% year-on-year and continued to decline sequentially. On the 25th, the new quarterly financial reports released by Microsoft and Google respectively showed that the net profit of the two technology giants fell significantly, which was lower than analysts' expectations. Microsoft reported a 14% year-on-year drop in net profit last quarter. Alphabet, Google's parent company, reported revenue growth of just 6% from a year earlier. Ad revenue grew just 2.5% year over year, compared with 43% a year ago. YouTube's ad business, which faces competition from TikTok, has been hit especially hard. At the same time, Google's net profit fell by more than 26% year-on-year. Forbes analysts said Alphabet blamed a pullback in advertisers, inflation and the threat of a recession, among other factors.
On the 27th, data from the U.S. Department of Commerce showed that after two consecutive quarters of declines, U.S. real GDP rose 2.6% year-on-year in the third quarter, but economists are still cautious about the future economic prospects of the United States.
