BMW recalls plug-in hybrids: rear starter brush overheats or catches fire
According to recent news, BMW Brilliance Automobile Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Recall of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products". , the following vehicles will be recalled from September 9, 2022.
1. BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd.
57,480 5-series plug-in hybrids with production dates from November 10, 2016 to August 28, 2020;
2. BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd.
A total of 364 7-series plug-in hybrids with production dates from June 29, 2016 to January 18, 2018.
Due to the design of the brush holder at the rear of the starter, when the starter runs for too long and causes the interior to overheat, the copper wire inside the brush holder may be fused, and in extreme cases, the components around the starter may catch fire. ,There are security risks.
BMW Brilliance Automotive Co., Ltd. and BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. will replace the improved rear starter brush bracket for the vehicles within the recall scope free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.
