Three days before the opening of the World Cup, the air ticket booking between China and Qatar reached the peak in the year

This Sunday, the 2022 Qatar World Cup will begin. With the adjustment of China's epidemic prevention and control policy, China's tourism market will also set off a round of "World Cup" fever. Ctrip data shows that since November, the number of air tickets booked from China to Qatar has reached the peak since the outbreak of the epidemic. On November 17, the number of air tickets booked from China to Qatar reached the peak in the year. At the same time, the bookings of audio-visual rooms with larger screens and better audio-visual effects doubled year on year. More and more medium and high-end hotels, on the eve of the World Cup, cooperated with Ctrip to upgrade the audio-visual room products, in order to improve the experience of fans during their stay.

The year-on-year growth of air ticket bookings from China to Qatar exceeded 28 times, and the average price of air ticket bookings dropped by nearly 40%

As the first World Cup under the epidemic, the 2022 Qatar World Cup has carried the expectations of countless fans. In particular, after the announcement of the "cancellation of the circuit breaker mechanism for inbound flights" on November 11, the search volume of China Qatar tickets on Ctrip's platform reached the peak in the year.

Not only that, China's air ticket bookings to Qatar also reached a new high since the outbreak of the epidemic. Ctrip data shows that as of November 11, the number of air tickets booked from China to Qatar, which took off from November 20 to December 18, has increased by more than 28 times over the same period of 2021, and the average price of air tickets has decreased by 37% over the same period of 2021. In terms of departure time, the number of flights booked from China to Qatar, which took off on November 17, reached the peak in the year.

It is worth noting that Chinese users going to Qatar have significantly higher requirements for travel quality than in previous years. Ctrip data shows that during the Qatar World Cup, the business class booking volume of China's flights to Qatar increased by more than 20% year on year. The proportion of male users of the post-80s and post-90s generation exceeds 70%. The proportion of users of one person bank reached 47%, and the proportion of users of two persons in the same line reached 39%.

In addition, from the perspective of the popular starting cities in Qatar, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou accounted for more than 80% of the fans, followed by Hangzhou and Nanjing. From the perspective of travel cost, Nanjing users have the lowest cost, while Hangzhou users have the highest cost. As of November 11, the average price of air tickets booked by Nanjing users was nearly 4000 yuan, while the average price of air tickets booked by Hangzhou users exceeded 12000 yuan.

Ctrip AV room bookings have increased by more than 100% year on year, 40% of users have booked one month in advance

Even if it is impossible to watch the game on the spot, Chinese users on the road also have a strong demand for high-quality experience. According to Ctrip's data, from November 20 to December 18, the booking volume of Ctrip's AV room products (hereinafter collectively referred to as "AV room") increased by more than one time compared with the same period last year, 60% higher than the product booking growth from January to October this year, and the overall average booking price of the AV room decreased slightly compared with the same period last year. 40% of users book their favorite AV room one month in advance.

Compared with last year, in the video room booking during the World Cup, the video room products in holiday cities have become the first choice for users. From the perspective of popular cities for AV room booking, Ctrip data shows that from November 20 to December 18, the number of AV room bookings in Xiamen increased more than 12 times year on year, leading the country in terms of booking scale and booking growth rate. The scale of AV room booking in Changsha and Chengdu followed closely, with year-on-year growth of 185% and 433% respectively.

In addition, during the Qatar World Cup in 2022, the year-on-year bookings of audio-visual rooms in Shenzhen, Nanjing, Hangzhou and Sanya all reached three figures. Among them, the video room reservation in Hangzhou grew 513% year on year, ranking the second in the country. The average room reservation price fell 46% year on year, ranking the first in the country.

At the same time of high video room bookings in some provincial capitals, Ctrip continued to strengthen the layout of the sinking market. During this year's World Cup, users in some cities will experience the visual impact of 100 inch frame screen and high-definition projection with commercial copyright. In the third quarter of this year, the video and audio room products that can be booked on Ctrip's platform grew by double-digit month on month compared with the second quarter. Among them, the video and audio room products in Zhoushan City and Huzhou City led the country with a month on month growth rate of nearly 60%.

It is worth noting that in order to enable the recovery and development of the tourism real economy, Ctrip also launched a zero cash upgrade of the AV room transformation program, which not only helps partners to achieve the comprehensive improvement of the AV system from hardware equipment to software system, but also brings about the experience upgrade that allows users to leave more favorable comments after their stay, thus improving the hotel repurchase. Ctrip data shows that from January to October this year, the proportion of users who placed two or more orders increased by more than 10% after the first booking of AV room.
